Case 1

A 42 year old lady sustained a severe comminuted fracture of her right tibia in a road traffic accident.
The fracture was treated with a 3 ring Sheffield Hybrid Fixator. 3 compressive olive wires were inserted across the diaphyseal fracture site using the middle ring and 2 wire slider units. The pilon fracture was reduced with olive wires. Union was uneventful.
Bridging callus is seen along the line of the olive wires (identified by the remaining washers).
Final outcome after 56 weeks.
